Search for s-Channel Single Top-Quark Production in pp Collisions at s√ = 7 TeV

Description:
A search for s-channel single top-quark production in 0.70 fb-1 of LHC pp collision data collected with the ATLAS detector at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV is presented. Selected events contain one lepton, missing transverse energy and two jets. The final selection requires both jets to be identified as coming from b-quarks. The background model consists of multijets, W+jets and top-quark pair events, with smaller contributions from Z+jets and diboson events. An observed (expected) upper limit at 95% CL on the s-channel single top-quark production cross section of $\sigma_{s}< 26.5 (20.5) pb is obtained using a cut-based analysis.
